I think about the food that I ate in Japan constantly. Sure, the ramen and sushi and other regional specialties were incredible but just the normal everyday food was mind blowing.

I have always been very mindful of ways to reduce waste and minimize my environmental impact. A lot of resources go into the production of anything that we buy and consume. Some materials can be recycled or repurposed while others will stay intact for hundreds of years. Here are a few ways I try to reduce my impact on the environment. (As an added bonus, some of these tips save you money or help you stay healthy.)

My boyfriend found this place when he was looking up gluten-free restaurants in Japan. They were very accommodating and knowledgeable about eating gluten-free. The waitress was extremely friendly and helpful.
Train Station Bentos in Japan
As if riding a bullet train going hundreds of miles an hour wasn't enough of a thrill, the other fun part of going to the train station is the ekiben, or bento boxes, that you can buy to eat on the train. Japanese bento boxes are one of my favorite things to eat. I love the variety, the cute packaging, and of course, the food!
